TINSUKIA, Sept 12 - As many as 50 members of Tinsukia district committee of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) went on a 30-hour-long hunger strike in front of the Deputy Commissioners Office complex here on Friday demanding scrapping of the Central Governments notification for settling the non-Muslim illegal immigrants in Assam.

Terming the BJP-led Government at the Centre as the enemy of Assamese people, Anil Boro, secretary of KMSS central committee, said that by issuing the notification, the Government had violated the main terms of the Assam Accord of 1985. The secretary of KMSS added that it would continue to oppose such anti-Assam moves of the Centre.
