IMPHAL, March 27: Three Myanmar nationals, reportedly wounded during military crackdown in the neighbouring country, were admitted to hospitals here on Friday.
Police as well as local sources said that one person was killed and seven others injured when the Myanmar army fired indiscriminately at people who came out on the street to protest against the raids to hunt down anti-junta leaders in Tamu bordering Manipur on Thursday night. Three of the injured, who sustained serious bullet wounds, were rushed to a government hospital at Moreh late Thursday night. They were later shifted to Imphal after administering first-aid at Moreh.
Police in the border town shifted them to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal for further treatment. The condition of one of them is stated to be critical and he has been shifted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.
The crackdown in Myanmar is witnessing many people fleeing across the border into Mizoram and Manipur.
