State bodybuilders shine

GUWAHATI, Jan 12 � Three bodybuilders from Assam stood first in the Mr India Junior and Masters National Bodybuilding Championship held at Rajhara, Chandigarh on January 10 and 11.

Informing this Bhabajyoti Goswami, secretary of the Assam Weightlifting Association said, the Assam boys created history in the junior national bodybuilding championship by winning three gold medals. He further informed that the Assam got the best team title in the championship as along with three gold medals Assam won two bronze medals.

Dipu Dutta (55kg), Subhadip Baidya (60kg) and Khiprajit Hazarika (75kg) won gold medals and Junior Mr India titles for Assam.

Other position holders were Mulya Dhar Baruah (Masters above 60 years, 3rd), Gibinda Ghatowar Masters 70kg, 3rd) and Khanjan Pratim Talukdar (Masters 65kg, 5th).

Earlier, Bijit Gogoi won the title few years back.
