Sit-in by former ULFA men

GUWAHATI, Sept 19 - The All Assam Surrendered ULFA Samittee today staged a six-hour sit-in demonstration at Dighalipukhuripar, demanding introduction of inner-line permit in Assam, declaration of Assam as an autonomous State, and joint action by the Centre and the State government to detect and deport all illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

KMSS rally: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) will take out a procession from the Latasil Playground to the Raj Bhawan here on September 22 in protest against the decision of the Union Government to grant entry and staying rights to the non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan who have entered Indian territory till December 31, 2014.

11 arrested: City Police arrested 11 members of a women�s gang of pick-pockets and chain-snatchers from Maligaon area in the past 24 hours.

Police said that a 14-member all-women gang coming from West Bengal had been camping in the city ahead of the festive season with the intention of pick-pocketing and chain-snatching.

One drowns: A man identified as Binod Goala, a handyman, died after falling into a well at Saokuchi area today. He was stated to be in an inebriated condition when the accident took place.
