Reliance Jio laying OFC in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Sept 20 - With public-owned BSNL struggling financially, Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd., has stepped in to lay fibre optics in Meghalaya for better rural connectivity.

The company gave a detailed presentation to the State Planning Board here recently and informed that 64 per cent of the work relating to infrastructure development has been completed.

About 890 villages would benefit from this project, out of the total 6,459 villages (as per 2011 census), in the first phase of the project and is slated to be completed in three years, sources said.
