Political party chief arrested

GUWAHATI, March 10 - Police last night arrested Anup Pandey, chief of Purbanchal People�s Party (PPP), after he allegedly entered into an altercation with his party members at a hotel located at Six Mile here.

Police said that altogether three complaints were lodged with the Dispur Police Station, which include one lodged by Pandey himself.

The party members alleged that the party chief was trying to dupe them in the name of giving candidature for the ensuing Assembly polls in the State.

The candidates � Abhisek Bora and Jesmin Ahmed � have lodged complaints and a case has been registered in this connection.
