IMPHAL, May 21 Suspected NSCN-IM cadres in collusion with some individuals have imposed restriction on import of fish and eggs into Manipur, according to Imphal- based fish and egg traders.

The All Manipur Fish and Egg Traders Association (AMFETA) members claimed that they came to know about the alleged conspiracy of suspected NSCN-IM cadres and some individuals to control the fish and egg business in the State, when about seven egg and fish-laden trucks were stranded at Dimapur and Senapati since May 17.

With a population of about five lakh, Imphal consumes around 10,000 kg of fish and 2.5 lakh eggs daily, according to AMFETA.

Meanwhile, the Association has submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam urging him to look into the matter as the trade supports the livelihood of more than 1,000 unemployed individuals.
