More than 9 lakh doses of Covid vaccines administered to Manipur residents

Imphal, July 15: Manipur has so far given 9,21,729 doses of Covid vaccines including 8,22,355 first and 99,374 second doses to the residents.

According to official reports available here,till date a total of 3,52,392 first doses of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,16,531 first doses to people between 45-59 years besides 1,12,449 first doses to people above 60 years.

The vaccination drive was formally on January 16 this year. Initially,the vaccination rate was low but it gradually increased in the state.

The highest vaccination datas were recorded in the state in the recent time. Even the state Chief Minister N Biren Singh in a tweet on Wednesday wrote,"Achieved another milestone as we administered 31,086 doses of covid vaccines yesterday, which is the highest no. of one-day vaccination in Manipur. With PM @narendramodi Ji's guidance, we are emphasising on maximum testing & maximum vaccination."

It may be mentioned that the state authority is targeting to vaccinate at least 70 percent of the total eligible population (18 years and above) by the end of this year to control the Covid 19 pandemic in the Northeastern state.

According to Mission Director Dr N Shyamjai of the State Health Society, Manipur, the state has nearly 20 lakhs eligible population for the Covid 19 vaccination programme.
