Imphal, Dec 14: Twenty seven year-old bodybuilder Maradona Kshetrimayum who was crowned Senior Mr Manipur title in the 59th Mr Manipur contest 2021 organised under the supervision of the All Manipur Body Builders Association (AMBBA) in Imphal.Manipur has so far produced more than 10 Mr India, 3 Junior Mr World and one Mr World title holder body builders.
Maradona, a resident of Kakching Makha Leikai in Manipur's Kakching district went home richer with a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh after defeating his rival body builders during the day and night long contest which ended at Asha hall here Sunday night.
The second and third position of the competition goes to W Priyobrata of Liangtuang Gym Kamei Foundation and Bhopendra Nongmeikapam of Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC).
Speaking to this reporter after winning Mr Manipur 2021 title, Maradona who is the owner of Muscle Factory,a gym in Kakching said, "I started practicing to become a good body builder in 2013 but I join the body building competitions such as Mr Manipur contests only in 2016 and won overall champion title in Junior category."
Maradona added,"Being a founder of Muscle Factory gym which aims to produce a unique form of muscle filled bodies, I thought of continuing body building as a profession till my age permits."
In Women's Bodybuilding competition,Karishma Chingangbam of Super Gym Khurai emerged best in the women's bodybuilding competition while Thangjam Leima Chanu of Universal Gymnasium, Kakyai and Keisam Sinthoibi Mangang of Royal Gym, Ningomthong finished second and third in this event.
Anthony of Super Gym Khurai bagged the overall master title as Nameirakpam Ojit Singh of Life-style Gym Khongman and Chandam Indira of YBB Gym Pishumthong were adjudged overall second and third.
Specially-abled Naorem Jayanta of Royal Fitness Academy Thoubal, Ahongsangbam Nanao Singh of Bishnu Gym Bishnupur and Tharoijam Robin of AMBBA finished first, second and third respectively in the bodybuilding competition for physically challenged persons.
According to General secretary Yumlembam Sunanta of AMBBA, altogether 158 body builders both men and women representing 56 Gymnasiums from across the state of Manipur participated in this year's 59th Mr Manipur contest 2021.
MPSC team bagged the overall team champion title of the competition while Royal Gym Ningomthong was awarded the Runner's up title.Among the Gyms,Kanglei Fitness Centre Kiyamgei has the maximum number of participants in all the competitions which was categorised in seven groups.
