Manipur reports 10 deaths due to Covid-19

Imphal, July 10: Manipur reported total fatalities of 10 Covid 19 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the state's Covid 19 death toll to 1251,according to a press release of the health department.

The victims are from Imphal East(3),Imphal West(2), Kakching(2),Bishnupur(1), Kangpokpi(1) and Thoubal(1) districts. They expired at five health centres in the state.

The state on Friday also reported 852 new Covid 19 positive cases when 5,400 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total infection tally to 76,032 besides increasing the total number of active cases to 6,610,it said.

The new positive cases were detected from 14 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (277),Imphal East (150), and Kakching(97)districts.

On the other hand with 959 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered COVID 19 cases in Manipur reached 68,171, it said. Thus Manipur's recovery rate stands at 89.66%.

As of Friday,9,43,697 persons were tested for COVID 19 while 7,01,748 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.

So far the state has given 8,51,377 doses of Covid vaccines including 7,59,195 first and 92,182 second doses to the residents.

Till date, the first dose of Covishield vaccine was given to 2,13,725 people between 45-59 years and 1,12,568 people above 60 years besides 3,07,514 people between 18-44 years.

Meanwhile Manipur police on Friday detained 188 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of Rs 61,000 was also collected as fine.
