Manipur: 14 Myanmarese nationals with fake Aadhar cards detained

Imphal, Oct 2: Fourteen Myanmarese nationals who tried to travel to New Delhi using fake Aadhaar Cards were detained by security personnel deployed at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal, reports said.

The fake Aadhaar cards were detected when the Myanmarese nationals were about to board the Indigo Flight No 6E-2209 that was scheduled to depart for Delhi from Imphal on Thursday,it said.


Myanmarese nationals who were mostly in their early twenties also reportedly revealed that they are nationals of Myanmar and had crossed into the country through the porous border region.


Myanmarese nationals including a female along with the recovered fake Aadhaar Cards and boarding passes were handed over to Singjamei Police station in Imphal West district for further necessary steps, it added.


Meanwhile, sharing a very brief video clip on his Facebook page, Chief Minister N Biren Singh today wrote, "The State government takes this matter very seriously, and a thorough investigation is already underway. Stringent actions will be taken up against those people who enter the country without proper documents. Similarly, anyone who abets foreign nationals to break the law of this land will be tried as per the law."
