Guwahati, May 9: In the wake of the formation of Cyclone Asani over the southeast regions of Bay of Bengal, isolated heavy falls is very likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam-Meghalaya during 10th-13th of May and over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura during 9th-13th May, said the Indian Meteorological Department.
"Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Northeast India during next 5 days. Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Assam-Meghalaya during 11th-13th May," said the IMD statement.
The Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Asani' over southeast and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is very likely to move northwestwards till Tuesday and reach west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts. Thereafter, it is very likely to recurve north-northeastwards and move towards the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast. It is likely to weaken gradually into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 48 hours.
The IMD has issued a 'yellow watch' for many states in Northwest, South and Northeast India on Monday.
