Mock polling station opened in Nalbari

NALBARI, March 21:  In order to educate the voters and polling personnel, the Nalbari district administration in a unique move opened a model mock polling station in the office of the Superintendent of Lok Nirman Department at Nalbari Masjid Chowk today.

The mock polling station was inaugurated by Nalbari Deputy Commissioner at a brief function. In her inaugural speech, the Deputy Commissioner called upon the voters to cast their valuable votes on the second and third phase of polling to be held on April 1 and April 6 in the district.

She added that the Nalbari district administration is all set for free and fair poll in both the phases.The Deputy Commissioner said that the voters can practice their right to franchise by casting votes at the mock polling station. She herself cast a mock vote by pressing the EVM button.

The model mock polling station has all the facilities and provisions for smooth conduct of poll as per guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Immediately after the inauguration, people in large numbers cast their mock votes in the polling station.

In the mock polling station, there are all facilities for Divyanga voters who can cast their votes by sitting on wheel chairs also. The mock polling station wore a festive look and attracted the public in large numbers.On the occasion, a street play and puppet show were also performed to generate public awareness.
