AGARTALA, Aug 10 The attempt to secure safe return of thirteen villagers who were kidnapped by NLFT militants from Chawmanu and Nutun Bazar has failed to yield any positive result yet.

Following request from the Tripura Government, BSF Tripura Frontier has pursued the matter with its Bangladesh counterpart Bangladesh Border Guards (BBG) to secure release of the kidnapped villagers who were reportedly held hostage in militant hideouts across the border.

We have organised flag meeting with BBG officials at Company Commandant level but they could not find any Indian villagers being confined in Bangladesh, said PC Meena, Inspector General of BSF, Tripura Frontier here today.

He further said that the BSF had also formally lodged a protest on the issue with BBG.
