Karate tourney begins

GUWAHATI, April 28 - The second edition of the All Assam Shito Ryu Karate Championship got off today with two-day programme at Tamulpur, Baksa.

The championship is being organised by the Shito-Ryu Karate Do Promotion Council of UKAA which has been hosted by Japan Karate Do Kunibakai Shito Ryu Honbu Assam in association with the Baksa District Karate Do Association.

Around 270 players of 8 different Shito Ryu Style Karate Associations of UKAA from 10 districts like Jorhat, Titabar, Nagaon, Morigaon, Karbi Anglong, Guwahati, Kamrup, Baksa, Bongaigaon, Dhuburi are taking part in the championship.

A day-long Shito-Ryu Karate Training camp was held today for all the participants conducted by KAI referee commission member Shihan Naval Dutta. A referee and judges seminar was held yesterday for the technical officials of the championship at Assam Olympic Association conference hall here which was conducted by Shihan Naval Dutta. The competition will start tomorrow at 9 am, stated a release.
