TURA, Oct 20 - Following the damage of 12 houses in jumbo depredation under the Ranikor subdivision last week, another herd of elephants brought down a house at Rajai village under the same subdivision of West Khasi Hills this morning. Villagers ran to safety during the rampage.

As per reports available, the jumbo herd moved through the village early this morning, creating panic among the local residents. According to eyewitness accounts, there were at least 12 elephants in the herd.

Meanwhile, the United Achik Youth Forum has sought the help of the district administration in rehabilitating the villagers who lost their houses. It has also demanded a wildlife camp in the area for the relief of the villagers who have been living in fear.
