JD(U) to support stir against Citizenship Bill

GUWAHATI, Jan 20 - The Janata Dal (United) today reiterated its commitment to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and decided to extend helping hand to the ongoing movement against the Bill.

The party, in its national office bearers� meet held at Patna today, reaffirmed its commitment to oppose the Bill in the Parliament and decided that a four-member team of the party, headed by its vice president Prashant Kishore, would visit Guwahati on January 29 and 30 to hold talks with the stakeholders to extend support to the ongoing movement against the Bill.

The JD(U) delegation will meet leaders of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU), North East Students� Organisation (NESO), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and other organisations agitating against the Bill to extend their support to the movement, party sources said.

It may be mentioned here that the JD(U) is an alliance partner of the BJP, but the party has been opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
