Indian Army rescues tourists at Yongdi, Sikkim

Army personnel in spite of adverse weather and inclement condition rescued more than 450 tourists including women and children by timely and prompt action at Yongdi, Sikkim  from the high reaches near the India-China border following sudden heavy snowfall.

Yongdi in Sikkim experienced severe snowstorm and sub zero temperatures on 31 March  2021. The 120  vehicles carrying tourists were stranded and started skidding after the snowstorm.The tourists including women and children  were rescued and vehicles evacuated by creating a vehicle safe lane by clearing snow. Tourists were provided  medical support. There were no major injuries or casualties.
