India-China joint military exercise concludes

SHILLONG, Dec 20 - The eighth edition of the India-China joint training exercise, �Hand-in-Hand 2019�, concluded at the Joint Training Node, Umroi Military Station, about 25 km from here.

The joint exercise between the two Asian giants had begun on December 7. It was aimed at involving infantry companies of Indian and Chinese armies in joint drills for counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain under a United Nations mandate.

The exercise entailed firing from one another�s weapons, conduct of tactical lectures and demonstrations by both the countries on various aspects of counter-terrorism operations. The exercise included physical training activities including endurance runs, battle obstacle courses and games, an official release stated.

The joint training standards achieved by both the contingents were on display during a 72-hour field training exercise, which encompassed various drills requiring seamless integration of actions to fulfil facets of counter-terrorism operations.

The exercise culminated with the participating troops displaying a high standard military drill. In addition, troops of both countries displayed skills during a spectacular ceremony, the release added.
