Guwahati, May 09: According to sources, Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to be the next Chief Minister of Assam. The NDA alliance will meet the Governor today evening and the oath taking of the new government will take place at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra on Monday.

GUWAHATI, May 9: Senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the next Chief Minister of Assam. This decision was formally taken during the first meeting of the newly constituted BJP Legislature Party here today.
Sarma's name for the post of the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party was proposed by Sonowa and seconded by State BJP president and MLA-elect Ranjeet Kumar Das and MLA-elect Nandita Garloda. It was unanimously supported by the other MLAs-elect of the party.
As Leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Sarma will assume charge as the next Chief Minister. The next State government headed by Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to be sworn-in tomorrow.
