Assam CM inaugurates 300-bedded Covid hospital at Sarusajai Sports Complex

Guwahati, June 10: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma here on Thursday inaugurated a 300-bedded COVID Care Hospital at Sarusajai Sports Complex, built in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in less than a month.


Dr. Sarma said that the hospital will have a span of five years, which can be further extended. The hospital will have a facility of 100 ICU beds as well. The hospital is equipped with a liquid oxygen tank to ensure continuous supply of oxygen to the patients. It would be refilled weekly.


Constructed at Rs 21.46 crore, the hospital will act as an annex to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital and strengthen Assam's COVID management capabilities. It shall also ease the burden on other hospitals of the State.
