Dry day declared in Dima Hasao on polling day

Haflong, March 20: In view of State Assembly election to be held on April 1, 2021, for 16-Haflong (ST) LAC, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Dima Hasao has notified an order prohibiting the possession of any kind of intoxicant by any person or group of persons and total ban on sale of liquor or giving or distribution of spirituous ,fermented or intoxicating liquors or substances at hotel, restaurants, bars, eating house, taverns  or any other place public or private during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours for the conclusion of Poll i.e. from 6.00 pm of March 30 to 6.00 pm of April 1.

Furthermore, the day of counting of votes which is fixed on May 2, has also been declared as dry day till the process of counting of votes is over. All bonded warehouses, IMFL, retail Off and On shops including clubs in hotels and country shops of entire Dima Hasao district will remain closed during dry day.

Any violation of above shall be dealt with under the relevant provision of Assam Excise Act and Rules, stated the order.
