GUWAHATI, Sept 28 - Senior BJP leader and legislator Atul Bora today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court demanding initiation of contempt proceedings against former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for his remarks on eviction.

Bora, who was accompanied by his counsel Bijon Kumar Mahajan to the Chief Justices office, alleged that the former Chief Minister had made statements in regard to the Gauhati High Courts order on eviction in and around Kaziranga National Park, which amounts to contempt of court.

In the memorandum, the BJP legislator alleged that Gogoi had said that no action was taken against the encroachers in KNP during his tenure because he did not want to disturb the vote bank.

By openly defying the court order what kind of an example is the former Chief Minister trying to set? Bora questioned. He also requested the Chief Justice to take appropriate contempt proceedings against Gogoi.

Later, Bora said that he is contemplating a contempt litigation against Gogoi for his comments.
