Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GOLAGHAT, July 1 The rural people of more than 20 villages under Marangi revenue circle within Golaghat district have been spending sleepless nights due to heavy erosion caused by the Dhansiri river.

The rural people have alleged that the State Government has done precious little to check unabated land erosion since 2009.

It may be pertinent to mention here that in Mithaam Chapari within Doigurung, the Water Resource department had invested porcupine bundh, but they were damaged by floods.

Erosion has greatly affected Morongi tea garden, Kondoiguri, Borbali, Haustalli, Chechamukh, Korukachuk and Dusutimukh areas.
