CM proposes 4 more Rabindra Bhawans

GUWAHATI, Jan 27 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi announced at a meeting of the State level committee for the celebration of 150 th birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore here on January 25 that the State Government would send a proposal to the Central Government for setting up one Rabindra Bhawan at each of Jorhat, Barak Valley and the Lower and North Assam Divisions.

According to an official press release here, the Chief Minister also informed the meeting that the State Government decided to erect a statue of the Kabiguru in each of the State�s districts. He also assured steps on the part of the State Government to set up a Rabindra Kristi Kendra in Guwahati.

The meeting, which was presided over by the Chief Minister and held at his secretariat�s conference hall, decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of the Kabiguru with a one-year programme from May 9 next to May 9, 2012.

For the purpose of finalizing the programmes, an implementation committee was also formed with Cultural Affairs Minister Bharat Chandra Narah as its president. The proposed celebration will start with a centralized function in Guwahati, stated the release.

The meeting further decided that the birth anniversary of the Kabiguru would be celebrated at district level too, stated the press release.
