DIPHU, Oct 6 � Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s call for a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for paying befitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Karbi Anglong district BJP organised a cleanliness drive at Diphu, Howraghat, Bokajan and Hamren recently.
Hundreds of BJP activists along with volunteers of different organisations joined the sensitisation drive across some notoriously grubby localities of the town. Top leaders of the party led the party workers in different places of the district. Padma Maibongsa, vice president, Ajit Dey, general secretary, Samson Terang in charge of the party media cell cleaned several areas where town committee has never reached.
Interestingly, some Congress leaders joined the BJP in paying tributes to the Mahatma by cleaning the surrounding areas of the town.
