CIT Kokrajhar declared as containment zone as 5 test COVID-19 positive

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 25: The district administration of Kokrajhar has declared the entire complex of Central Institute of Technology (CIT) as containment zone from last evening after five students of the institution tested COVID -19 positive.

The five students of the institution were detected positive yesterday during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in the RNB Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar.

Following the detections, the entire complex of CIT Kokrajhar has been tagged as a "containment zone", and the campus has been sealed promptly until further notice.

As per the government order, no entry and exit of people will be allowed, and the vehicular movement will be strictly prohibited.

The District Magistrate of Kokrajhar Sri Bhaskar Phukan in the order also said that as per the Assam COVID -19 Regulation order, the protocol of COVID-19 would be strictly enforced until further order from 6 pm of February 24.

Out of the students who tested positive, three of them hail from West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura while two students are from Assam's Sivasagar and Kamrup Metro districts.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate of Kokrajhar, Bhaskar Phukan said that all the necessary steps were initiated for the treatment of the students who tested positive.
