CCTV cameras in city buses for women

GUWAHATI, July 21 � The exclusive city bus service for ladies will be inaugurated in the city on July 23 with Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla flagging off the service from the Judge�s Field at 9 am that day.

A public meeting will also be held on the occasion.

The city bus service for women will operate between 7 am and 11 am and 3 pm to 8 pm everyday. Such buses will initially ply from Khanapara to Kachari but later the service will be extended to other routes across the city.

The buses will have CCTV cameras and also presence of lady police. Male children below the age of eight years will also be able to ride in such buses.

The Kamrup Metro district administration along with the District Transport Department is starting this service of city buses for women on a pilot basis.
