BJP flays Centre over fuel price hike

Update: 2010-09-15 00:00 GMT

GUWAHATI, June 25 The State chapter of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has flayed the Central Government for utterly failing to arrest the soaring prices of essential commodities, especially cooking gas cylinder, diesel and kerosene, the prices of which were hiked recently.

In a statement issued to media today, the saffron party said that hike in the prices of essential commodities, particularly diesel would have serious bearing on the lives of common man as it would directly effect price rise of different other commodities.

Most of the items in Assam are imported via road transportation and price rise of diesel would further enhance the load on the common mans wallet, the release quoting BJP spokesperson Santanu Bharali pointed out. The party also took exception to the hike in power tariff announced recently.

AJYCP protest: Meanwhile, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad has informed that it would stage protest rallies across the State against the Government decision to hike prices of diesel and other items.
