KALAIGAON, Jan 5: The Udalguri district administration and the Dhansiri Forest Division have stepped up operation to check timber smuggling. Talking to this correspondent, Naba Kumar Bardoloi, DFO, Dhansiri Forest Division, said seven illegal saw mills operating in various parts of the district were busted recently. “Moreover, we have sought help from the SSB stationed along the Indo-Bhutan border to cooperate with the forest department in order to contain timber smuggling. We seized 200 bicycles used for timber smuggling, besides logs, during the anti-smuggling drive,” he informed. – Correspondent
