World Hypertension Day observed across 44 health centres in Cachar

An oft-neglected health concern, hypertension can lead to major crises . In a bid to sensitise people on the ill-effects of hypertension, Cachar District Health Department observed World Hypertension Day at various health and wellness entres of the district on Monday.


District Media Expert Suman Choudhury informed that the occasion was observed amidst activities across 44 Health and Wellness centres. He added that  the ASHAs are already in the process of risk assessment. The high risk cases are brought to health and wellness centres periodically and their blood pressure is checked. The patients are given medicines free of cost, Choudhury maintained. As part of the observation the Community Health Officers organised mass screening and awareness drive complying with the social distancing norms amidst COVID-19 pandemic. 


Meanwhile, asked whether any critical cases were detected among the people, the District Media Expert informed that screening is in process and the minor cases are dealt with at the health centres and added that  so far, no referral of any critical case(s) has been reported.
