Union Education Minister, Assam CM to virtually attend 19th convocation of NIT Silchar on Tuesday
Silchar, Nov 1: The 19th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar will be held in virtual mode from 10 am onwards on Tuesday.
According to authorities of the institute, Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan will deliver the convocation address as the chief guest while Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will virtually grace the occasion as the guest of honour. Prof K Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor Government of India and Prof KK Agarwal, chairman of National Board of Accreditation will attend the convocation as special guests. A distinguished alumnus of the institute and Joint Secretary Department of Finance Service will also attend the convocation, the authorities added.
Further, the NIT Silchar authorities informed the media that considering the prevalent COVID-19 situation as many as 945 students including 609 students in the B.Tech, 268 students in the M.Tech, M.Sc and MBA courses and 68 PhD holders will be conferred their degrees virtually at the convocation. However, the medal winners have been invited to receive their medals at the institute during the convocation.
