Guwahati, Oct 25: In the backdrop of an escalating trend in man-elephant conflicts within the state, another encounter unfolded along the Indo-Bhutan border at Bilpar, situated under the Batabari forest range in Assam on the night of Vijayadashami, October 24.
The victim was identified as Pradeep Boro. The incident occurred within the precincts of Bilpar, under the jurisdiction of the Batabari forest range office in Assam.
On October 24, a wild elephant allegedly ventured into Bilpar village at around 7 pm. The victim Pradeep Boro emerged from his residence in an attempt to deter the elephant when he was trampled by the jumbo.
The forest officials arrived at the scene to recover Pradeep Boro's lifeless body and sent it for post-mortem. This heart-wrenching incident serves as a stark reminder of the pressing issue of human-elephant conflicts in the region.
