East-West corridor likely to open for vehicular traffic by March 2022: Silchar MP

Silchar, April 18: MP Dr Rajdip Roy visited the  Balacherra Harengajao portion of the East West corridor on Saturday.

He was accompanied by BJP cachar district leaders.

Later talking to the media, Dr Roy claimed that he is hopeful the roadway which is also called the Mahasadak connecting Silchar with Saurashtra will be usable for vehicular traffic by March 2022.

Criticising the Congress and former Union Minister late Santosh Mohan Dev's remarks on the Mahasadak, Dr Roy said that the work which was stalled for the past many years during  the tenure of the  Congress government has now gained momentum and the finish line is only a matter of time now.  Even as there are some issues which would be addressed duly, around 9.5 kms of the roadway has been turned into a four-lane path and new technologies are being applied to overcome the hurdles at work and the major task would be accomplished soon, he maintained.
