Border issues with Arunachal Pradesh will be resolved within 2022: Assam CM

Guwahati, Feb 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that maximum border issues with Arunachal Pradesh will be resolved by the end of this year and the intiative will be started from April.

The CM while delivering his speech during the 36th Statehood Day and 50 years of Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar today urged Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, to take the lead. He is hopeful that both the States will be able to solve the problem amicably.

While assuring the people of Arunchal Pradesh, Sarma stated, "From April we will engage in serious dialogue and within this year maximum border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will be solved."

Speaking about Meghalaya, Sarma said that Assam has settled six disputed areas with Meghalaya amicably and now he is in talks with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minsiter Pema Khandu regarding the border issues.

CM Sarma tweets: "To solve border issues amicably, our Govts will sit together in April. I hope that we'll be able to solve maximum problems within this year. I urge Hon'ble Union Minister Shri @KirenRijiju to lead Team NE so that our region can play a vital role in the country's development."

"People of Assam & Arunachal Pradesh have always shared a close affinity & bond. State boundaries may divide us physically but emotionally we are all connected," he stated in another tweet.
