Assam CM hands over Rs 1 lakh cheque to ailing Padma Shri Birubala Rabha

Guwahati, July 10: Assam's crusader against witchcraft Padma Shri Birubala Rabha has been assiduous and steadfast in her campaign against witch hunting. Through 'Mission Birubala,' she has saved many lives.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday visited Birubala Rabha in Goalpara to enquire about her health. According to report, she hasn't been well for a while.

Sarma handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh from CM's Relief Fund as an aid for her treatment. Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote "we pray for her speedy recovery so that she resumes her tirade against the menace of superstition."

CM Sarma was accompanied by Minister Bimal Borah and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) CEM Tankeswar Rabha during their visit to Birubala Rabha's residence in Goalpara.
