Guwahati, April 6: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) court on Thursday has postponed the hearing of two cases filed against Akhil Gogoi till April 25.
Earlier today, the Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi appeared before the NIA in connection with the cases filed against him during the violent anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest in December 2019.
Along with Gogoi, other suspects Dharjya Konwar, Bitu Sonowal and Manas Konwar also appeared before the court.
During the hearing, the MLA alleged that the government was conspiring to keep him in jail during the Assam Assembly.
Earlier on March 3, the Supreme Court had extended Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi’s protection from arrested till March 13 in connection to the anti-CAA protests and suspended links to Maoists.
