13-year-old girl raped in Phulaguri, accused absconding

Raha, Aug 13: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man at Phulaguri under Raha police station on Tuesday evening.

The 35-year-old accused identified as Shantanu Saikia, an inhabitant of Petboha village, reportedly committed the crime when the girl's parents were not at home, police said.

The heinous crime came to light on Wednesday when the girl informed her parents about it who then approached the police.

A case was also registered with the police by the girl's family in connection with the incident. Efforts are on to trace the accused, police informed.
