Assam bandh hits normal life

GORESWAR, July 20 - Normal life at Goreswar, Maharipara, Naokata, Suagpur and Bangalipara was affected today during the 24-hour Assam bandh called by the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students� Union (AKRSU) for a separate Kamatapur State along with grant of ST status.

The bandh supporters staged protest by burning tyres on the roads at various places of the district. Almost all educational institutions, including banks and other commercial establishments remained closed during the bandh.

Transportation of commercial vehicles, including buses, trucks and others plied on the roads during the bandh. Markets and other business establishments remained totally closed.
