ASAK area commander surrenders in Tura

TURA, Jan 16 � A hardcore cadre of the Achik Songna An�pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK), who was also the South Garo Hills area commander, surrendered before the DIG of BSF here on Tuesday. The 21 year-old cadre is the second senior militant leader to surrender to the BSF in a span of a month, after another senior GNLA cadre surrendered earlier last month.

The cadre identified as Dimsrang M Sangma (Nawal) had originally joined the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) in 2010. He joined Reading T Sangma in forming ASAK in November 2013.

Sangma surrendered with one nine mm pistol, two magazines, one mobile phone and demand notes.
