Arunachal alert on swine flu

ITANAGAR, Feb 24 � Although there has been no reported case of any swine flu in the State as yet, the Arunachal Pradesh government has sounded an alert and ordered that all hospitals be kept ready for tackling any eventualities.

In view of the outbreak of influenza-A, H1N1 (swine flu) in a number of States in the country, the State Chief Secretary, in an emergency meeting with the Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Director of Health Services, Director of Medical Education, and State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) and Epidemiologist today directed that necessary arrangements for medicines and laboratory confirmation of cases, if any, should be done on a war footing.

It was further decided to temporarily prohibit sale of pork in the State as a precautionary measure and accordingly, necessary instruction has been passed to all DCs, informed Dr L Jampa, State Surveillance Officer.
