Appeal for aid to ailing playwright Arun Sarma

GUWAHATI, March 21 - Progoti Shilpi Sangha has requested the State government to assist the medical treatment of renowned playwright and litterateur Arun Sarma, who has been admitted to Medanta Medicity after being diagnosed with some critical ailment.

�Sarma has brought laurels to the State with his work and is a worthy recipient of the Sahitya Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi awards, apart from other awards and recognition nationwide. We hope that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the State government would come forward to bear the cost of his treatment,� said Satyen Doloi, secretary of the Sangha.

Sarma is the former president and lifelong adviser to the Sangha. At a meeting organised in the Sangha premises at Uzanbazar here, prayers were offered for his speedy recovery.
