BONGAIGAON, Oct 4 � Two youths, allegedly presenting their identity as former Bodoland Liberation Tigers cadres, attacked All BTAD Minority Student's Union general secretary Lafiqul Islam today at Manikpur in Bongaigaon district.
As per the family members, Lafiqul left for Nalbari from his residence at Salakati in Chirang district at around 11.30 am today with driver Hafizur Rahaman in a hired car.
When the car was between Manikpur and Patiladoha Chawk at around 12.30 pm, suddenly a Bolero SUV halted in front of them forcing Lafiqul's car to halt too. As Lafiqul came out of his car, two youths ran towards him shouting their identity as former BLT cadres, and attacked him with a metal tool on his head. They, however, escaped with their Bolero after noticing two police personnel coming on a bike towards them, said Lafiqul's car driver.
