3 Tripura villagers kidnapped

AGARTALA, Dec 18 � The National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) insurgents have kidnapped three tribal villagers from a remote village of Gomoti district, police said here on Tuesday.

A group of armed militants dressed in olive green appeared at Nibaranpara under Korbok police station on Monday night and kidnapped three villagers � Para Kumar Tripura, Nandaram Tripura and Matiram Tripura at gun point.

According to police, the militants retreated towards Indo-Bangla border with the kidnapped villagers. Senior police officers along with reinforcement rushed to the spot and launched a combing operation to rescue the kidnapped villagers.

The incident triggered panic among the villagers living along the Indo-Bangla border.

Meanwhile, one tribal villager was injured in the gun battle between NLFT insurgents and security personnel at Satirampara in Dhalai district on Monday morning.
