Amlan clinches double crown in India Club meet

GUWAHATI, Feb 2 � Amlan Barua clinched double crown in the 16th India Club All Assam Open Tennis Championship which concluded at the India Club here today.

In the U-18 singles final Amlan prevailed over Ronit Bora 6-1, 6-2 and later on combined with Jugal Barua he won the boys� U-18 doubles title. In the prize distribution ceremony, Bedabrata Bordoloi RM of Hyundai Motor India Limited, Simanta Sarma of Dainik Janambhumi Group, India Club president Prasanta Das and secretary general Bijan Choudhuri gave away the prizes. The tournament was sponsored by NRL, BSNL, Dalmia Cements, Pallavi Motors Pvt Ltd, Dainik Janambhumi Group, Hyundai Motor India Limited. Tournament director Gaurav Chowdhury offered vote of thanks in the closing ceremony.

(Boys� U-18 doubles) Amlan Barua-Jugal Barua bt Ankit Kashyap-Rounak Bora 6-3, 6-1. (Girls� U-18 doubles) Naziya Ahmed-Janashree Saikia bt Eva Raj Sah-Annie Thaosen 6-2, 6-2.
