GUWAHATI, March 24 � Legendary musician Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has agreed to be the event ambassador of Srimanta Sankaradeva Movement at Bangalore on June 1 evening. The event would be organised at Chaudia Memorial Hall where the acclaimed musician would give a special tribute performance to Mahapurush Sankaradeva.
Shyamkanu Mahanta, the chief organiser of Sankaradeva Movement informed that apart from the maestro, writer UR Ananthamurthy, vice president Sahitya Akademi Chandrasekhar Kambar and a number noted personalities would be present.
M Veerappa Moily, former CM, Karnataka and Union Minister of Petroleum would be present along with Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and DoNER Minister PS Ghatowar. Victor Banerjee is the brand ambassador of the movement which has Dr Lakhsminandan Bora and noted playwright Arun Sarma and other as advisors.
A Facebook page �Srimanta Sankaradeva Movement Bengaluru Initiative� has been created to popularize the event and Mahapurush Sankaradeva.
The Assamese community of Bangalore is partnering Trend MMS in organizing the event. Besides, Assam Society of Bangalore has also associated itself with the event.
To promote Mahapurush Sankaradeva across the country and abroad Srimanta Sankaradeva Movement- is an iconic programme initiated by Trend MMS, the leading Cultural Trust of Assam with the support from Ministry of DoNER, Govt of India and Govt of Assam.
The first edition of the Programme was organised last September at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi.
To include a chapter on Sankaradeva in NCERT, a representation was also submitted to Union HRD Minister.
