Amitava Misra new GM (i/c) of IOCL(AOD)

DIGBOI, April 3 � Amitava Misra, a mechanical engineer of the Jorhat Engineering College (JEC) batch of 1977, was elevated to the position of General Manager (i/c) of IOCL (AOD) recently. He joined Digboi Refinery as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (Boiler) in 1978 under the banner of the Assam Oil Company. His career graph spans from job assignments ranging from power and utilities, maintenance, marketing operations, marketing sales, supply and distribution and marketing projects under Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Assam Oil Division).

Considered to be an expert in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Misra happens to be the first ever professional to be entrusted with the responsibility of introduction of TPM in Digboi Refinery way back in 2003.

Born in Shillong, Misra did his schooling at Digboi AOC Boys� High School and did his PU (Science) from Digboi College in 1972.

Term of Justice Katakey probe panel extended

GUWAHATI, April 3 � The Government of Assam has extended the term of the one-man commission of inquiry headed by Justice (retired) BP Katakey, enquiring into the circumstances that led to police firing in Golaghat town and its adjoining areas in Golaghat district, an official release received here stated.

The incident which took place on August 20, 2014 resulted in the death of three persons and injury to several others, including police personnel, besides significant loss of public and private properties.

The term has been extended for another six months w.e.f. March 1, 2015, or till the submission of its report, whichever is earlier, the release stated.
