Amended building construction bye-laws hailed

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 9 - Assam Real Estate Infrastructure Developers Association (AREIDA) has welcomed the Guwahati Building Construction (Regulation) (Amendment) Bye-Laws 2020 and thanked the state government for the notification.

It has been a long five-year pursuit for this Association since the last bye-laws were notified in 2014 with numerous errors. We thank the Chief Minister for taking initiative in getting the stalled process moving. It is important that we can compete with other states in terms of business-friendly regulations if we are to progress, said AREIDA president PK Sharma.

The amended bye-laws have introduced the Mukhya Mantri Sohoj Griha Achoni which provides for instant approval for both planning and building permit for G+2 buildings, up to plot area of 670 square metres, submitted online through empanelled RTP (registered technical persons).

It is indeed a welcome development and addresses long pending genuine needs of the industry as well as the citizens. It is now essential to incorporate these amendments to the building bye-laws for the rest of the urban areas of the State, he said.
