GUWAHATI, June 21 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today inaugurated the Ambubachi Mela festival at a function held at Sonaram High School playground here. The Mela is scheduled to begin tomorrow at the famed Kamakhya shrine atop the Nilachal Hill. It will conclude on June 25.
In his address, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that the festival would do a world of good to the State�s tourism potential and help it become a global tourist destination. Tourism Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said a road would be built from Pandu to Kamakhya with the Rs 15 crore received from the NEC.
