MANGALDAI, Sept 7 � The 35th edition of the Amba Medhi memorial All India Invitational Prize Money Football Tournament, organized by the Mangaldai Sports Association, got off here today . In the inaugural match City Police of Guwahati defeated Kahibari Youth Club of Udalguri 2-0.

The sluggish ground condition with water logging in many spots, due to heavy downpour in the morning session, both the teams failed to play their natural game. However the cops managed to score one goal in each half of the match through their attacking midfielders Rinku Medhi (12th minute) and Rahul Boro (79th minute) respectively.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Basanta Das, Minister for Fisheries, I and PR, Govt of Assam. Three veteran footballers-Nagen Choudhury , Phulendra Nath Saharia and Sisir Bhowmik were felicitated in the inaugural function by the organisers.

Today�s match: Orgeng Club, Dimakuchi vs Aroonuday Football Club, Mangaldai.
